SURGE PROTECTION: The Flexpower Surge Protector is designed to protect the FlexPower Two’s sensitive components from excessively high voltages (e.g., electrical storms). Thermally-fused metal oxide varistors (MOVs) limit (“clamp”) these voltages and transfer the resulting current to a lower-voltage port. The Flexpower surge protector features ACTIVE and ERROR LEDs for the DC, AC IN, and AC OUT circuits. The Surge Protector is located in the FlexPower Two’s AC wiring compartment.

Outback FlexPower FP2 GVFX3648 Pre-wired Power Center 240 Volt AC

Outback FlexPower Two Power Centers are solid-state electronic devices that, when sized properly, can be used in nearly every solar and wind energy system that uses batteries. The Power Centers Blue Pacific Solar sells employ the latest in power electronics to regulate the battery charge by controlling the charging voltage and current from a solar panel array. Power Centers regulate the charge of the battery, but also prevent the battery from being over discharged which can damage the battery bank.

Off-grid or grid tied with battery backup, here is how the FlexPower Power System basically works. For a grid tied battery backup, grid power comes into the Outback FlexPower power center. If the backup batteries are fully charged, the power is then passed to the critical load or backup load subpanel inside the home. The FlexPower power system is monitoring the sine wave of the grid, amps and volts. When the FlexPower system detects changes outside the default parameters, it immediately begins to draw power from the backup battery system and pushes it to the critical load subpanel.

It is the responsibility of the purchaser to ensure that all products are installed and operated in accordance with local and national building codes as specific by the NEC (National Electric Code), UBC (Uniform Building Code) or IBC (International Building Code) and local utility company policy. This product is designed for indoor or protected compartment installations. DO NOT expose the Outback FlexPower Two to rain, snow, moisture or liquids of any type. Use insulated tools to reduce the chance of electrical shock or accidental short circuits. Remove all jewelry such as rings, watches, bracelets, etc. when installing the FlexPower Two Power Center or any other electronic gear. Always disconnect the batteries or energy source prior to installation or performing maintenance on the FlexPower Two Power Center inverter. Live power may be present at more than one point since an inverter utilizes both batteries and AC electricity. Turning off the FlexPower Two Power Center may not reduce that risk. Always verify proper wiring prior to starting the inverter. Do not operate the FlexPower Two Power Center if it has been damaged.
