Grid-interactive Definition - Utility grid power is available for use and the system is capable of exporting (selling) electricity back to the utility grid.
Because few gas generators produce grid quality AC power, when using OutBack grid-interactive products in conjunction with a generator to recharge batteries, Outback only recommends using Honda EU generators.
The OutBack International Series true sine wave grid-interactive inverter/charger is a complete power solution. The International Series is designed for use in 50 Hz countries that have utility grids with nominal AC voltages of 230 VAC / 50Hz. For areas that frequently experience high or low power conditions such as surges, spikes or brownouts, or have trouble syncing to the utility grid, the International Series grid reconnect timers have been shortened to reduce overall system downtime and improve system functionality.
FLEXpower One includes a single inverter, AC and DC wiring boxes, a single FLEXmax 80 Charge Controller, MATE 3, HUB, FLEXnet DC and Surge Protector while maintaining a small system footprint.
Incorporating a DC to AC sine wave inverter, battery charger and AC transfer switch housed within a die-cast aluminum chassis, the International Series GTFX and GVFX Inverter/Charger gives you the ability to sell solar, wind or hydro power back to the utility grid while providing instantaneous backup power in the event of a utility outage.
SURGE PROTECTION: The FLEXpower Surge Protector is designed to protect the FLEXpower One’s sensitive components from excessively high voltages (e.g., electrical storms). Thermally-fused metal oxide varistors (MOVs) limit (“clamp”) these voltages and transfer the resulting current to a lower-voltage port. The FLEXpower surge protector features ACTIVE and ERROR LEDs for the DC, AC IN, and AC OUT circuits. The Surge Protector is located in the FLEXpower One’s AC wiring compartment. To add an additional layer of protection, Blue Pacific Solar's team have included a MidNite Solar lighting arrestor for you to install at your combiner box where you would typically make the transition to conduit.

All grid-tied and off-grid solar installations should be permitted and inspected, where required, by the local inspection authority in the same manner as other equivalent electrical systems. Blue Pacific Solar recommends you contract with a local licensed electrician to do the final electrical connection of your solar system from the AC disconnect to your home utility breaker box. Some local permitting authorities require that a licensed electrician do all the wiring from the rack to the utility interconnect. Be aware that only qualified personnel should install or replace OutBack inverter. Do not attempt to repair the OutBack inverter; it contains no user-serviceable parts. If it fails, please contact OutBack customer service to obtain an RMA (return merchandise authorization) number and start the replacement process. Tampering with or opening the inverter will void the warranty.
