our solar story Who we are. What we're about.

We believe we are a citizen of the world and have a stewardship and a responsibility to take care of the planet. We believe that we have been given a great gift from those who came before us. We believe it is our job to contribute to the good in the world, helping others who have not been able to bring light to their own darkness.

We have a deep abiding love for this country, for the land and regard for all people of all races no matter what their religious or political beliefs. We believe that it is self-evident that that all people were created equal and respect everyone’s right of the pursuit of happiness if it does no harm to others or the land. We believe that the constitution and the bill of rights are the supreme law of the land. Those laws were written with the blood and sweat of our ancestors and stands today preserved by the sacrifice of courageous women and men everywhere.

We stand knowing we will not be here forever, so while we are, we pledge to contribute something to our beliefs every day. We choose to live happily and without regret, knowing we are doing our best to point our compass towards the good around us and improve upon our faults. We do this for who we are and for what we would like to become. We pledge to do our part in some small way making the world a better place.

We are who we say we are. We believe what we say we believe. We stand for what we say we stand for. Nothing more, but nothing less.

Local Renewable Energy Is The Way Out of Our Economic Challenges

Better than a quarter of a century ago, when we began working with energy efficient building products, would we have never guessed that life's path would take us into the amazing possibilities of renewable energy, a reinvigorated economy and the jobs that come with it.

Consider this, reflecting on what we have because of generations that came before us, and the legacy we are going to pass on to the next generation, is worth a moment of pause and consideration for the benefits of solar energy.

  • Whatever affects the children, affects the future of the earth and all that lives upon it...
  • What will be our legacy to future generations?

  • We are doing what we can to give these good people some help. We hope you will consider doing the same.

To Give or Not to Give?

Just about, everyone wants to support a good cause. Most of us have our favorites depending on where we live and which issues strike close to our heart. We met a person recently who talked about a group of health care specialist in the African bush who are working in an environment, we would find impossible, in remote field hospitals. Over the next three days, this person told us stories of the backcountry in Nigeria where the maternal mortality rate is among the highest in the world. Sporadic or non-existent electricity impairs the operation of surgical wards, delivery wards, essential hospital equipment, and hospital communications. The lack of dependable power greatly hinders these good peoples ability to provide safe and timely medical care. The health care workers try to operate or provide care by candlelight. They cannot preserve blood because they have no electricity for refrigerators. We Care Solar
A group of people in Northern California, who have a passion for renewable energy, wanted to use their knowledge, contacts and skills to provide solutions to others less fortunate around the world. They started by designing portable solar power photovoltaic systems for battery chargers to bring light into remote hospitals, power medical equipment, blood bank refrigerators and communication equipment. In remote bush areas, the equipment was portable enough that they could move it from village to village on their backs if they had to. Among their many accomplishments they also designed a portable solar electric system that fits in a suitcase. The “solar suitcase” powers overhead LED lighting, charges walkie-talkies and cell phones, and includes LED headlamps that come with their own rechargeable batteries. The first deployment of these systems occurred in June 2009 in Africa.

Everyday, each of us are faced with scores of choices that, in subtle yet discerning ways, can either enrich or impoverish our personal character. The choices we make, and the manner in which we make them, illuminate the paths our lives will take.

Consider this. An inescapable truth is that the quality of our lives is not determined by the happenstance of genetics or by the influence of environment; it is not measured in material possessions or in the trappings of youth; it is not dependent on personality or social acclaim. On the contrary, the intrinsic value of the life we lead reflects the strength of a single trait…. our personal character.

Our friend and fellow canyon trekker Joe Tye, said once that when you hike out of the Grand Canyon you look ahead at a vertical wall ½ mile high in front of you that is paradoxically similar to many of our own challenges we face. As you look up at the intimidating monolith it is absolutely impossible to imagine yourself climbing it or to see how it would be humanly possible for there to be a trail that you can follow. And yet the trail unfolds before you, one switchback at a time.

It feels like a miracle when you finally emerge from the canyon and in fact your hike up is a great metaphor for the real miracle in our lives. The miracle is not the trail because the trail was there all along, you just could not see it, the miracle is your faith in taking it and the person you become because you did.
